Scrubs

Can you believe this is what I will be wearing to work for the next 1 1/2 years? No more style for me... *sigh* They need to be ironed, but I hate ironing!!

My stethoscope. At least I can choose the color of the tubing (purple, not that you can tell from this photo). I want a teal one too, but I thought it would clash with the blue of my scrubs, lol.

My mom got me these 2 Hello Kitty phone charms! The one on the left has Hello Kitty sitting on a blood-filled syringe, along with a bag of blood, and AB, my blood type ;) It's rather large though, so it will have to be my special occasion phone charm, haha. The one on the right lives on my phone. It is so strange, everything around me seems to be turning blue lately; my clothes (scrubs), my phone charm, my furniture, my dolls, my glasses, even my pajamas. lol.

New Digs

I officially moved to Memphis on Friday. I was supposed to go to new student orientations Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday, but then this happened:

So now, instead of being wary of leaving my new place because I'm in a somewhat unfamiliar city and know hardly anyone, I'm totally trapped inside. School won't start now until Wednesday, assuming there's no more bad weather. To kill time, I started watching a new Korean drama. It's been quite a while since I've watched any, partially due to the end of the AZN channel, lol. Anyway, now I'm completely addicted to "Pasta." It has basically the same plot as every other k-drama: adorable, down-on-her-luck girl becomes indebted to emotionally stunted, quick-tempered jerk and eventually falls in love with him, then him with her, while they both deal with the other's unbelievably generous/rich and attractive suitors. I've never been the type to like rom-coms, but k-dramas just do it for me, I guess.

Anyway, this is where I'm living now:

It's still a little messy while I get everything unpacked & sorted...

And here are some pictures of Hachi exploring her new place:

She was upset at first, but she seems to be coping well now :)

Shopping

This week I've been trying to get ready for my big move to Memphis. I'm super nervous about the whole thing. It doesn't help that I'm almost entirely broke and won't get any loan money for another week. So, while I'm wanting to buy one of the newest Harvest Moon games (I can't believe I didn't know there was both a new Wii game and DS game until after xmas) or a new tattoo or something else fun, I'm having to buy things like a new bedspread, sphygmomanometer, sports watch, etc. Well, I suppose I have made a couple of somewhat frivolous purchases...

My signature skinny darkwash levi's have recently lost most of their elasticity, but I found these identical DKNY jeans for $15 at Marshall's. I also liked

I also finally got around to buying a poster frame for the latest VAMPS poster. Isn't it awesome? I can't wait to hang it in my new room.

For reference, here are some pics of Harvest Moon: Animal Parade for Wii:

If you've played one Harvest Moon game, you've pretty much played them all, but I still love them! And they do get better as games are able to contain more and more data.

Here's some from Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar for DS:

I'm leaning toward AP because of the obviously better graphics; GB seems more like every other HM game I've played (aerial view, 2D anime characters, etc). Oh but I do love the DS! I think it's my favorite system ever... Either way, I think I'll go crazy without one of these games, especially since I won't have tv in my new place, and I don't know if I'll be able to afford it.

Hachi

Today I want to share recent photos of my darling Hachi. She is about a year and a half old now, so she's learned how to take a pic like a real cat; she blinks, turns away from the camera, etc.

Peeking out from behind the xmas tree. She has unusually reflective eyes, even for a cat

Looking at a "Cats" mug. Totally not staged! lol

Look at that cute foot!

Anyway, I know I'm a cat lady. Deal with it. If people can annoy us all with pics of their kids, I can do the same with Hachi. She's way cuter than any baby.

あけましておめでとう!

New year's eve, huh? I've been trying to think of resolutions, but I've always been bad at those (making them, not keeping them). Last year I resolved to be less passive in my life, to not over-think things, and I think I've done well with that so far. That is the meaning behind the "vivre" tattoo I got earlier this year; to remind myself to live. I feel like I've jumped into applying to schools & that sort of thing. And my life will be drastically changing very soon. I've been very fortunate this year, going to Japan, going to New York, seeing Vamps for the 5th time, winning an upcoming trip to Japan, making an actual plan for the next few years of my life...

It rained torrential downpour all night, so I didn't end up doing anything I'd planned. I didn't even watch the ball drop on tv. But I still had fun, I still had champagne. It's a night I'll think of fondly, which is more than I can say for many new year's eves that will be remembered begrudgingly, or not at all. I still haven't thought of any resolutions, but I guess it's just as well; people should try to examine and improve themselves all year. It will come to me at the right time.
